Tim McOmber: Mental Health Therapist

I’ve been practicing as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor since 2010, and over the years, I’ve worked in private practice, inpatient psychiatric care, foster care, domestic violence programs, and community outreach. Those experiences have shaped how I see people: not as diagnoses, but as individuals carrying complex stories, strengths, pain, and resilience.

When someone is living with chronic illness or long-term health challenges, the emotional impact can be just as real as the physical symptoms. There can be grief, frustration, anxiety, identity shifts, relationship strain, and moments of deep discouragement. My role is not simply to treat symptoms, but to sit with you in that experience and help you find steadiness, clarity, and forward movement.

I use approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but the most important part of my work isn’t the model—it’s the relationship. Trust, collaboration, emotional attunement, and mutual respect are the foundation. Research shows that real change grows from a strong therapeutic connection, and that is always my first priority.

Diagnosis can sometimes be helpful—it can bring language and direction. But I’m careful not to let a label define the person. People are more complex than any category. I focus on understanding your unique experience, your goals, and what will genuinely help you build a life that feels meaningful, even in the presence of real challenges.
